Silt Curtain

Silt Curtains provide a waterborne barrier around waterfront civil construction projects, restricting damage from sediment runoff into waterways such as rivers, lakes and harbours.

The Curtain is constructed from a PVC Coated top float chamber using oil resistant, crumble-proof foam blocks – this section is longitudinally reinforced with polyester webbing for extra strength.

A non-woven geotextile skirt below the float chamber restricts water flow and allows the suspended sediment to settle. A PVC Coated chain pocket is attached to the bottom of the geofabric skirt to provide sufficient ballast to keep it taut.

Applications

Silt curtains are used by construction companies, marine service companies, erosion and sediment control contractors, consultants, councils and state road authorities for projects including:

Bridge building
Road widening on foreshore
Road repairs on foreshore
Port development
Dredging
Jetty development
Piling
Foreshore development
Tailings dams
Sediment ponds
Stratex can supply the Silt Curtain with the skirt folded and multiple sections connected, up to a length of 100 metres per pallet. This enables immediate deployment of the Silt Curtain when it is onsite.

UV stabilised materials
Non woven geotextile dkirt with 90 micron pore size and strong flow rate
Zipper and ASTM Z-connectors for easy assembly and dismantling
Reputation for reliable performance and durable construction
Handles and connectors built-in to assist with rapid deployment
Reusable when cleaned and correctly stored
Custom lengths available – contact us for a price
Available in higher spec options for higher-risk applications
